Signalling the start of the summer, Shindig Festival (23rd – 26th May) will be celebrating its tenth birthday. As per the previous two years, the event will be held at Dillington Estate, Somerset. However, this will be the last dance at Dillington, as the landowner’s future plans involve more farming than festivals. Its eleventh birthday will be celebrated in a different location.
Tenth Birthday Music Line-Up
Shindig creates a unique soundtrack by blending classic royalty, festival regulars, and emerging talents. The lineup includes Groove Armada (DJ set), Brand New Heavies, Mad Professor featuring General Levy and Sandra Cross. Additionally, Kurupt FM, acclaimed radio and TV personalities, and Bafta-winning movie stars will be part of the event.
Don’t miss out on Saturday’s performance by John Morales, a renowned New York house DJ. He has remixed tracks for iconic artists like The Rolling Stones, Spandau Ballet, Aretha Franklin, Hall & Oates, Candi Staton, and Rod Stewart.
Jody Wisternoff, one-half of Bristol’s Way Out West duo, along with Terry Farley and his Faith crew (Stuart Patterson and Dave Jarvis), will perform as part of their 25-year celebrations, delighting house music enthusiasts.
Drum and Bass enthusiasts can groove to “Run in the Jungle” by T>I & D*Minds and anticipate Jungle Mania featuring Congo Natty, DJ Rap with The Ragga Twins, and Brockie & Det.
Fans of breaks music will delight in the lineup featuring King of the Beats: Krafty Kuts, Plump DJs, and The Freestylers, alongside Kraak & Smaak, Smoove & Turrell, and The Allergies.
The festival is returning to its origins by featuring numerous artists who have performed over the past decade, contributing to what it has become today. Some of these artists include Shosh (24 hr Garage Girls), Greg Wilson, Altern 8, Odyssey, Gardna, Dub Pistols, The Cuban Brothers, Stanton Warriors, and Dutty Moonshine.
Comedy Line up
The annual line-up isn’t limited to music alone. In 2024, comedic talents like Reginald D. Hunter, Angelos Epithemiou, Olivia Lee, and viral sensation Red Richardson are also part of the show.
Chai Wallahs Collaboration
Chai Wallahs, a highly praised and beloved festival crew, has joined the Shindig family for 2024. Renowned for their remarkable spaces at Greenman, Secret Garden Party, and Shambala, this team will collaborate to transform the Dig Inn venue into the largest in the festival’s history. This expansion ensures that more individuals can savor the headliners in a stylish manner. Anticipate exceptional music, heartwarming vibes, and extraordinary cocktails.
According to Festival co-founder Will Lardner, our tenth anniversary celebration will be truly exceptional. Anticipate fantastic music from both familiar and new artists we deeply respect. Prepare for takeovers, collaborations, performances by renowned figures, and emerging talents. It will be an incredible experience at Dillington. Let’s make it unforgettable by dancing all night long (literally).
Shindig Festival has transformed from a small gathering for Ghetto Funk record label friends into a renowned event known for its amazing lineup and welcoming atmosphere. It combines elements of a concert, a free party, a circus performance, craft workshops, a wellness retreat, and a children’s celebration.
The dress up theme
The highly anticipated theme is Magical Creatures, inviting you to unleash your inner party animal. However, if that doesn’t resonate with you, there are ample chances to showcase your style on cross-dressing Friday and Sequin Sunday.
Experience mind-blowing art installations that will captivate your attention, crafted by today’s most visionary and innovative creatives: WREKON, Dot Master, Sam Haggerty, James Kearney, Iain Coiley, Mutoid Waste, Bex Luther, and Joe Rush. Witness the coolest way to combat waste, all orchestrated by Shindig’s Creative Director, Mojo Fell.
Upon entering, you will be greeted by impressive up-cycled sculptures crafted from discarded materials. Prepare to encounter a colossal phoenix bird, a dragonfly resembling a helicopter, the deity Shiva, a sabretooth tiger, and an elephant. The metal used in these artworks has been sourced from the aerospace industry, agriculture, and the military, transforming it from a tool of war into a medium for artistic expression.
Recommendations and Awards
