Today, We Out Here – Gilles Peterson’s award-winning weekender – presents a cross-generational and uniquely individual programme of over 100 new artists joining their 2024 bill.
We Out Here threads sounds from various musical genres to unite music-lovers at a festival that caters to everyone. The program emphasizes the festival’s commitment to showcasing both genre pioneers and promising new talent, spanning the diverse range of genres that festival-founder Gilles Peterson has championed over his forty-year career.
Headlining the main stage, the iconic André 3000 will enchant the crowd with a special live show, showcasing melodies from his highly anticipated flute album ‘New Blue Sun.’ Additionally, acclaimed singer-songwriter Sampha, winner of the Mercury Prize, will deliver a mesmerizing performance, presenting tracks from his latest album ‘Lahai’ in an ethereal manner.
Poet Kae Tempest, known for their award-winning work, will explore the realm of spoken word. Meanwhile, R&B/Soul icon Dee Dee Bridgewater will electrify the audience with her soulful rendition of “I Can’t Stand The Rain,” infusing the performance with soul and funk.
Black Thought, a highly acclaimed American rapper who has won a GRAMMY award, will be joining the incredible lineup of legends including Loose Ends, Brian Jackson, and India’s successful vocalist Asha Puthli. Their performances promise an unforgettable weekend with exceptional talent.
In addition to that, more headliners are ready to perform. Renowned house music producer Louie Vega will present his latest project called ‘The Elements of Life.’ UK rap and grime MC CASIDEAD will showcase tracks from his latest album ‘Famous Last Words,’ featuring ’80s synth lines and twilight ambience.
Corinne Bailey Rae, renowned for her heartfelt lyrics and enchanting melodies, brings a fresh sound and unique touch in her latest album, ‘Black Rainbows.’ Ebo Taylor, a trailblazer in Ghanaian highlife and afrobeat, will keep the audience grooving with funky rhythms. Meanwhile, Floating Points, a Mercury Prize nominee DJ/producer, and the electronic duo Mount Kimbie will elevate the energy with their electrifying live sets.

Rhythm Corner sets the stage for an exciting nighttime program featuring a diverse lineup of DJs who embody both the traditions and evolution of the dancefloor. Renowned DJs like Joy Orbison, Calibre, Channel One, Zed Bias, Tama Sumo & Lakuti, Mr Scruff, DJ Storm, and Gilles Peterson himself will deliver captivating live sets.
This year, jazz fans can anticipate an exciting lineup that includes a diverse range of artists such as Matthew Halsall, Mansur Brown, Venna, and Irreversible Entanglements. Moreover, Mahogoni Music by Moodymann will offer a special tribute to the renowned Amp Fiddler throughout the weekend.
This year, We Out Here will celebrate several important milestones: 10 years of Wisdom Teeth, 25 years of Tru Thoughts, 20 years of First Word, 20 years of Hyperdub, and 15 years of Eglo Records.
In addition to witnessing renowned music artists on the Main Stage and Big Top, the festival presents an array of alternative stages and attractions for everyone’s enjoyment throughout the weekend. With Lemon Lounge, Near Mint Record Store, the Talks Tent, Lush Life, The Hennessy, and Love Dancin’ stages, the festival not only celebrates music but also serves as a platform to explore emerging talent and deepen attendees’ understanding of the evolving musical landscape.
In addition, Columbia Road’s Brawn restaurant collaborates with Gilles Peterson’s label, Brownswood Recordings, and Worldwide FM to present the Brawnswood stage. Alongside their restaurant offering food and drinks throughout the day, including cooked breakfast favorites paired with fine wines, cocktails, and more, the stage will feature a curated lineup of DJs and Live Artists for intimate, stripped-back performances.
This year, in addition to a diverse range of new acts, the Sanctuary will make a comeback, offering a serene area by the lake for those seeking a place to unwind. The music lineup will be enhanced with partner collaborations, wellness sessions, engaging talks, and family-friendly activities, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
